I've kayaked almost every day this summer, that is everyday the tide has been in... but today I ignored that rule and went out anyway.... bad idea.
Today I kayaked when the tide was out. When dad and I got in the kayaks the tide was just high enough for our lift to be submerged and the kayaks to float off. When we got back and hour and half later the water had gone down so much that the lift was on dry land! Now, normally this would not be a big deal. We would pull the kayaks up to the shore, get in the water and put them back on the lift. Thing is... our dock is on a huge clam bed.
We thought for a moment then decided that dad would get out and try to put his kayak on while I docked mine on the clam bed. Then I would get out and swim mine over to the lift and put it on. We didn't think enough apparently, dad got his kayak on alright but he didn't have to walk through the clam bed. The second I got out of the kayak my feet started to get sucked in by the thick gloppy mud. I was up to my knees in mud and sharp clam shells, I couldn't get my feet out of it because it was sucking me in! Finally I got out of it and got my kayak on the lift. I got up the ladder before dad did and sliced my thumb on some sharp metal. I looked down at my legs to see that they were covered in blood! But cleaning off the kayaks had to be first priority. Dad couldn't get his leg up on the ladder so he stood on the lift while I brought it up.

My legs didn't hurt too much... until I cleaned them with hydrogen peroxide XP All in all it was an interesting adventure! The kayaks were pretty dirty though, since dad didn't have any cuts he stayed behind and cleaned them off. Well, that's all for today! I'm going kayaking tomorrow so there may be another story :) (let's hope not! Lol)
